llaveezhapoonchira is a dream like valley sprawled across thousands of acres in the Idukki and Kottayam districts in Kerala State. It
is located approximately 60 km from Nedumbassery CIAL, 50 km
from Kottayam, and 20 km from Thodupuzha. SFPC carries out specific projects in ILAVEEZHAPOONCHIRA, the Honey and Oxygen Valley of Kerala. The one & only non man-made Thadayana in Kerala
is at llaveezhapoonchira. The lake and the poonchira are situated in
Ilaveezhapoonchira at the confluence of Idukki and Kottayam District. The name llaveezhapoonchira literally translates to pond of
flowers where leaves don’t fall. According to local legends, it is
made by Sree Rama Bhagavan for Seetha Devi. Near this place,
there are muniyara and thousands of acres of revenue land and
meadows. It is said that the Pandavas, the heroes of the Indian epic
Mahabharata, are associated with this place. The meadows and
bald hills also make this place beautiful. Pilgrimage centres like Sabarimala, Bharananganam, and Kolahalamedu are easily accessible
from llaveezhapoonchira.
